FREE Mental Health Community Programme
The Midland region of GROW, one of Ireland’s longest established mental health charities, will present a free five week course, commencing on Tuesday, February 28th in Mullingar Parish Centre.
Run in conjunction with the HSE, the five week programme titled ‘Understanding and Minding Your Mental Health’ will feature an array of speakers offering useful tips, guidance and insights into positive mental health.
Open to all, people can attend all or any one of the sessions which take place on five consecutive Tuesday nights, running from February 28th to March 28th at 7.30 p.m.
GROW Area Coordinator, Assumpta Lyons, who is organising the programme, highlights how it is aimed at promoting community awareness about mental health and opening up discussion on positive mental health.
“We live in a time when a lot of people are experiencing difficulties, whether they are financial, emotional, physical or psychological. We hope that this free five week programme will provide information around how to mind your mental health in challenging times and direct people towards the supports that are available,” Assumpta emphasises.
The topics covered during the programme include:
February 28th – Understanding and Promoting Positive Mental Health
March 7th – Suicide Awareness and Prevention – Guest Speaker: Eddie Ward HSE Suicide Resource Officer
March 14th – Managing Stress and Anxiety – Guest Speaker: Derry O’Malley, Human Givens Therapist
March 21st – Mindfulness – Guest Speaker: Stella O’Malley Counsellor and Psychotherapist
March 28th – How GROW works – Guest Speakers: John Farren/Assumpta Lyons GROW Area Coordinators
