New GROW Weekly Support Group

GROW, one of Ireland’s longest established mental health charities, will open a new GROW group in Newcastlewest later this month.GrowLogoFacebook

GROW’s first ever peer-support group was established in Co. Limerick almost 50 years ago and this tradition of helping people on the path to mental health recovery will continue on Tuesday, February 28th when a new weekly GROW group gets underway in the Desmond Complex in Newcastlewest.

The group will meet every Tuesday from 11am to 1pm, is free to attend and open to all over the age of 18.

Limerick woman and GROW Area Coordinator, Eimear Purcell, is urging people in Newcastlewest and West Limerick who are experiencing mental health difficulties to seek support.

“It’s exciting for GROW to be expanding into Newcastlewest, a vibrant and thriving community.  Based in the Desmond Complex, the group aims to offer support to people right throughout West Limerick. At present, people from West Limerick access GROW either in Limerick City or Listowel, so to have a Newcastlewest group is fantastic,” Eimear emphasises.

“GROW previously held evening meetings in Newcastlewest. The new daytime meeting (Tuesday 11am-1pm) is in direct response to the feedback of members and will hopefully be more accessible to people wanting to take action to support and protect their mental health,” she adds.

Eimear also highlights the convenience and ease-of-access presented by the Desmond Complex.building_desmond

“The Desmond Complex is a fantastic base for GROW in Newcastlewest, with ample parking and excellent amenities. The centre has disabled access, making it a truly inclusive venue.  It houses a variety of activities and groups which GROW members may also be interested in availing of,” she highlights.

GROW is a community-based mental health organisation which has been in existence in Ireland for almost 50 years. GROW’s registered offices are in Henry Street in Limerick. GROW groups provide mutual help, support and encouragement to anyone experiencing mental health difficulties or struggling with any aspect of their mental wellbeing. Meetings are free to attend and confidential.
