Enjoyable North East and North Dublin Regional Weekend

Posted on

GROW members from Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Meath and North County Dublin came together in the lovely setting of the Lakeside Manor Hotel, Virginia, Co. Cavan for their annual Regional Weekend.

The weekend, on June 9th and 10th, commenced on the Friday evening with dinner overlooking Lough Ramor.northeast2

The group was then addressed by GROW CEO, Michele Kerrigan and Treasurer of GROW’s National Board, Ciaran Diamond, as well as Paul, who inspired us all with his personal story.

A presentation took place to Mary French, Area Coordinator for Meath, to mark her move to a new post as Peer Support Worker for the HSE.

A very informative workshop on sleep and insomnia was given by sleep physiologist, Breege Leddy, from the Insomnia Clinic. This was followed by a sing-along and dancing with John (GROW member) joining in on the bodhran.
The next day, an early Organiser and Recorder Meeting was followed by a trip to Loughcrew Cairns. This provided a fascinating opportunity to view art and structures from 5000 years ago! Afterwards, the group headed back to the hotel for lunch and goodbyes.

The feedback was very positive with some members staying (or wishing to stay) an extra night!

Many thanks to Regional Manager Martin Cadden for all his hard work in ensuring the event was so enjoyable. We are all looking forward to next year.
