GROW Benefits from Dingle Adventure Race

The mental health charity, GROW, was presented with almost €1,500 arising from the recent Dingle Adventure Race.

The Dingle Adventure Race (DAR) is a one day multi-activity adventure race comprising three different courses – DAR Full, DAR Sport and DAR Mini.

Activities include biking over the spectacular Conor Pass, climbing Mount Brandon, as well as running the coastal roads of Slea Head and the Dingle Peninsula. Competitors also kayaked in Dingle harbour, ran along Ventry beach and scaled the picturesque Mount Eagle.

GROW is immensely grateful to Noel O’Leary for choosing GROW as a beneficiary of DAR for the third year. GROW is a national mental health charity, focused on providing peer-support for anyone struggling with their mental wellbeing.

In all, some €1,465 was raised for GROW. This goes directly towards GROW’s free, weekly community group which takes place in Ré Nua, Dingle at 11am each Monday.

“Those who attend GROW, both learn from and support each other and work towards an improved quality of living and increased sense of personal value. The DAR challenge resonates with GROW’s ethos as GROW members face a daily endurance test to get the best out of life despite challenges.

“The Dingle Adventure Race is a test of endurance and character but also great fun. Over the respective DAR courses, you can hear great encouragement and laughter as groups and individuals test and push themselves,” emphasises GROW Area Coordinator Colette Flannery.
