BOOK LAUNCH: STORIES OF HOPE AND RECOVERY

On May 17th, many people gathered at the gorgeous Hazel House and Cafe in Tribadden, County Dublin to celebrate the release of Stories of Hope and Recovery. We were welcomed to the retreat centre by owner and Grow member Gerry Farrell, who told us about the vision for Hazel House. Grow CEO Michele Kerrigan spoke to the crowd about Grow and the importance of sharing one’s story. Denis Bergin, who generously gave his time in editing and advising for the book spoke about the process of creating the volume. Mike Watts, who collected and curated the stories, as well as giving his own to the book, gave more background on the gathering of each piece. He also spoke about the power of hearing another’s story. We were then treated to two readings from Jonathan and Aisling, who are both featured among the 22 real and personal stories.

The weather cooperated and we were able to share a delicious Hazel Cafe lunch outdoors in the gardens and keep the discussion about the book going. It was an ideal launch for this important and beautiful piece of writing. Thank you to everyone who came, especially the many storytellers featured in the book, to make the day so special. A very warm thank you to Gerry for welcoming us to his idyllic venue.
