What Your Personal Journey with Grow will look like
YOUR JOURNEY AT THE BEGINNING
A new member is warmly welcomed by other members of the group. Initially you are expected to do nothing but observe and allow yourself to experience being fully accepted and valued just for being yourself. During this period, you will experience the care of the group in many ways. Soon you yourself will become part of that care by participating in the meeting, sharing your own story with the group, when you are ready to and by performing small acts of friendship for others. You will learn how the weekly meeting works and commit yourself to the Grow Program. You will be invited into leadership in small ways, by being regular at meetings, by learning pieces of The Grow Program, doing suggested tasks, comforting others or even leading a meeting.

YOUR JOURNEY OVER TIME
When you regularly participate in Grow Mental Health support groups, your journey over time takes on a formal leadership role within the group such as the role of organiser (helping to organise, set up and lead meetings) or recorder (carry out a reflective evaluation of how each meeting went) but, and this is vital, still remains working on your own life. At this stage, weekly tasks will include those that aim at personal growth as well as recovery.
Many become involved in the building of Grow’s community. You may become part of regional or national teams or members of the Board. You will also become involved in the wider community. You should have arrived at a point where you are excited by the possibility’s life holds.
Many go back to third-level education or begin to find work that is really suited to their nature and talents. They begin to develop their innate giftedness for art, music, sport or whatever. They also become part of the social good, celebrating and cementing recovery by giving back to others, especially the most isolated and abandoned.
